Award Winning Interior Design: Lead Designer Rebecca Scott Honored by ASID

Today we’re celebrating award-winning interior design- specifically our Lead Designer Rebecca Thurston, who was honored this year by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The Excellence in Design Award for New Construction- Large recognizes outstanding interior design work in a new build- a home that is being designed and constructed, and furnished from the ground up. It’s a huge undertaking, and Rebecca’s skill, experience, and care made this project stand out all the more. Notably, Rebecca also served as the president emeritus of the Carolinas Chapter of ASID. She is so loved by our team and our clients alike, and we were thrilled to see her talent being recognized. We’re taking a moment on the blog to celebrate her award winning design work, as well as talking a bit about what this award means in the design world.

Creating Extraordinary Homes

If you haven’t met Rebecca, get ready to be full-on smitten, y’all. She is a gifted designer with a lifelong passion for creating extraordinary homes- and she is also just the sunniest, warmest human you could ever know. And as far as design, this woman has done it ALL. From historic homes to vacation homes to custom new builds to fully custom furniture and fabrics and beyond, her experience and expertise is second to none. What do our clients love about her most? Her warm, kind nature, her listening, creativity, and her true professionalism in all aspects of the work. Rebecca is relationship-centered, and is known by all for the way she spreads joy through her love of design.

Value in Design

But let’s take a moment to talk about the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). This national organization celebrates it’s 50th anniversary this year, and is centered around their ongoing goal to bring visibility to the value of interior design. Here in the studio we are true believers that strategic, intentional design can change our daily lives for the better. Our surroundings impact everything from community to connection to health and wellness. A well-designed home promotes health at every level, and a home that meets your every need and feels good at the same time is a daily source of contentment and wellbeing. ASID supports our profession through collective research and information, program funding, continuing education, and much more. They also recognize designers who are making an impact in the field, which is where Rebecca comes in.

From the Very Beginning

We love when Rebecca talks about how she dreamed of becoming a designer from the very beginning. She says that even as a young child, she was always peeking through issues of Southern Living (and any other design magazines she could find!) and discovering her creativity and passion for beautiful homes. She is someone who truly loves what she does, and our clients feel that in every interaction with her. She attended the ASID Carolinas Chapter Gala this year, where she was recognized and received her award for Excellence in Design.

You can get to know a little bit more about Rebecca here, and here! We’re so grateful to have her on our team. We appreciate how much she values each of our clients, and treats their homes with so much genuine respect, care, attention, and expertise. We hope you’ll get to meet her- and love her as much as we do! Congratulations Rebecca, we can think of no one more deserving of this prestigious award.
