Deep Blues- The Musician’s Hideaway

Full of deep blue hues and so much gorgeous texture, The Musician’s Hideaway is a custom room design that’s as unique as it is stunning. Come with us to take a peek behind the scenes at this sophisticated, playful, and beautifully personal interior design space.

Personal by Design

One of the things our CFD clients tell us they love the most is that we make their space truly about them. At the heart of what we do, great interior design is about people. We love to get to know our clients: what is meaningful for them, how they use their home, and their dreams about how their space can fit their life best. Their vision is the compass that guides us to making a space that fits them perfectly: what makes them joyful, what inspires them, and what feels like home. The real design magic happens when we make the spaces of day-to-day living feel intentional, luxurious, and beautiful.

A 3rd floor space in a beautiful Southern Village home, this triple window nook was a natural focal point, elevated by creating tone-on-tone depth with deep blue trim and wallpaper contrasted by airy custom boucle club chairs, textured drapes and pillows, and custom art.

Room for Meaning

If we thought of a room where personality meets custom interior design, The Musician’s Hideaway is a space that achieves just that. This room was created as a retreat, and a way to celebrate and commemorate our wonderful client’s retirement. Inspired by a time of life transition and marking a huge life milestone, we purposefully designed each part of the room to celebrate this client’s lifelong passion for music. Specifically- the drums!

A design-forward custom light fixture mirrors the design-edge of the drum sets. Plush carpeting and layered rugs, along with the warmer wood tones of the console provide balance to the angular elements.

Design Notes

So let’s talk design details. And we have to take a moment to talk about these WALLS, y’all. CFD Lead Designer Rebecca used the depth and variance of blues suffused throughout the room to bring a creative edge and visual dimension to the space. The wallpaper brings visual interest and texture to the deep blue color palette throughout the space. The design revolved around two incredible drum sets. Bringing in custom drapery and custom twin boucle club chairs paired with a gorgeous tufted leather swivel provides all the right texture contrast to the sleek metallic elements of the instruments. The carefully designed combinations create the most satisfying visual interest throughout every part of the space.

Bringing in this incredible custom tufted leather chair in warm camel defines this unique corner space, drawing on gold tones throughout the room and creating amazing contrast to the cool blue walls.

Past and Present

Weaving in personal details throughout allows us to create spaces that are not only beautiful, but also rich with meaning. We love to ask our client’s “What’s your happy place?” and “What’s the one thing you love to do more than anything?” We can take these life stories and create spaces where clients feel connected to the things that are fulfilling to them. This client had some incredible art featuring musicians he had followed and loved for decades- a long history of many good memories that we wanted to bring into this space. We had so much fun weaving these in throughout the room as a seamless and integral part of the design.

Creating a completely personal, beautifully functional space for doing the things you love most is one way we can help our clients enjoy their home to the fullest. We loved the depth and elements of this room- rich in color, funky, and full of rock star vibes- a completely unique space that embodies a life well lived.
